ASA will
attend the Regional COnference & Ehibition on Offshore/Coastal Protecttion
on 29th November of 2004. The event is expected
to attract in excess of some 3,500 targeted officials discussing issues
on Offshore and Coastal Protection, Oil Spill Prevention and Response,

and the latest technology in Marine environment protection.
When:
17th to 18th November 2004 ASA will be attending the Clean Gulf conference and exhibition. This year's conference and exhibition topics will be the new realities of environmental and security concerns, and brings into focus the intertwined relationships between regulatory, operator and response communities. With key perspectives from the inland, coastal and offshore ports, facilities, pipelines, shipping and drilling marketplaces.
When: 8th November
2004 Possible Tool for Designing Marine Protected Areas at the upcoming Gulf and Caribbean Fisheries Institute GIS and Remote Sensing in Fisheries Research and Management session in St Petersburg, FL 8 November. The objectives of the session are: 1) to better understand the relationships between organisms and various ecosystem components, fisheries impacts, and how geospatial data and tools could assist management, and 2) to inform participants about alternative tools for managers and policy makers that incorporate real-time oceanographic observations, such as those envisioned for the Integrated Ocean Observing System (IOOS).

Streich (CT Department of Environmental Protection) are authors of Computer Modeling-Based Source Identification Tool for Pathogenic Pollution, to be presented at the American Water Resources Association annual conference in Orlando, FL 1-4 November.
When: 1st to 3rd November
2004 ASA will
attend the GODAE Symmposium on 1st November of 2004. GOFAE is a global
system of observations, communications, modeling and assimilation, that
will deliver regular, comprehensive information on the state of the oceans,
in a way that will promote and engender wide utility and availability
of this resource for maximum benefit to the community. The rationale behind GODAE recognizes both societal need and scientific and technical opportunity. There is an accepted demand for an efficient, integrated system for global ocean products, provided regularly, and in real-time. Recent scientific and technical progress suggests the solutions to this demand are now both feasible and affordable. The underlying rationale for GODAE as an international experiment is that the vision will not be realized serendipitously. The needed capacity will not be realized without a concerted effort to ensure, first, proper integration of the components and, second, the commitment to proving value and viability.
When:
19th to 21st October 2004 Deborah French McCay and Eric Anderson will be presenting at the upcoming IMEMS conference. Deborah French McCay will be presenting Validation of an Oil Spill Fate and Effects Model Using Field Observations from Spills. Eric Anderson, presenting for Tatsu Isaji, will discuss Deep Water Oil Spill Modeling using OilmapDeep and CDOG. IMEMS
brings together marine environmental scientists and managers from research,
industry, and government to share information and concepts across national,
disciplinary and technical boundaries. Bringing model developers and users
together helps to achieve a common understanding of present and future
capabilities, needs, and limitations. The meeting is a forum for presentation
of analysis tools, concepts, exchange of ideas, and technology transfer,
and will be of interest to environmental managers, researchers, and consultants.
When:

The aim of the seminar will be to exchange information about technological needs and solutions for avoiding that incidents at sea turn into major disasters, to discuss on-going projects, and to join complementary efforts so as to build up synergies between relevant field-players and nations and to increase the wide-spreading of such preservation means within the maritime industry.
When:
4th to 7th October 2004 ASA will attend the RIO OIl & Gas Expo conference on 4th October of 2004. Rio Oil & Gas, one of the most important shows in the industry, will be held at Riocentro Convention Center, in October 2004. Pavilions 2, 3 and 4 have already been sold out, totalling an area of 26,500m?of rented space. Rio Oil & Gas Conference, held concurrently with the Exposition, attracts important professionals and industry leaders in search for new technologies and management practices in the oil and gas industry, to Rio de Janeiro . This premier event will enable you to present your technical research, share experience and enhance market growth. The Rio
Oil & Gas Conference 2004 will be held at Riocentro's Pavilion 5 in
Rio de Janeiro, from October 4 to 7, in conjunction with the Exposition.
This major forum in the oil industry, organized every two years, attracts
professionals and executives in their search for new technologies and
management practices in the oil and gas area. The Conference program will
include technical sessions, poster sessions, panels and plenary sessions.
When:
10th to 15th October 2004 Eduardo
